Enjoy the best of Lapland with this short, yet action-packed getaway. In just three days, you will experience the thrill of dog-sledding, the magic of the aurora borealis, a visit to the one-and-only ICEHOTEL, and an overnight snowmobile journey with accommodation in a real wilderness cabin. Perfect for adventurous travellers who are short on time, this is a great way to escape civilization for a weekend!
Day 1: Arrival and Northern Lights Husky Safari
Your adventurous holiday begins at Kiruna Airport where your local guide awaits to greet you and drive you to your cosy hotel in Kiruna, Sweden’s northernmost city located 145 km north of the Arctic Circle. As dusk settles, bundle up for a thrilling guided dog sled tour into the wild to experience the magical of the northern lights*. Later, enjoy a hot coffee and snack around the fire before returning to your hotel for your first evening in Lapland!
* Please note that the northern lights (aurora borealis) are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Day 2: The ICEHOTEL and Snowmobile Adventure
After breakfast at your hotel, it’s time to head to the world-famous ICEHOTEL in nearby JukkasjÀrvi for a guided tour. Every winter, this unique landmark is rebuilt by artists from all over the world using snow and ice chunks from the Torne River. Famous for its unique concept and dazzling works of art, this hotel also features the Ice Church and chic ICEBAR along with an astonishing assortment of rooms and suites for over 100 guests. After the tour, you are transferred back to Kiruna where you can enjoy a nice lunch at one of the local restaurants before your next adventure begins.
Around 15:00, you are picked up by your guide for your overnight snowmobile adventure. As you glide through the snow towards your rustic accommodation for the night, you are surrounded by stunning Arctic scenery with the possibility of spotting wildlife such as moose, reindeer, lynx, wolverines, and eagles. Just in time for dinner, arrive to the cosy cabins where your guide will prepare a traditional Lappish feast for the hungry group. Although the cabins are without modern features like running water, the soothing Swedish sauna will make you forget all about the modern world!
Day 3: Back to Civilization!
In the morning, enjoy a hearty wilderness breakfast before the half-hour journey back to Kiruna, where transportation is provided to Kiruna Airport in time for your departure flight.
