Introduction
Experience the unique polar phenomenon of the midnight sun in beautiful Swedish Lapland! This short, relaxing summer break in Kiruna brings you up close to the unique culture and lets you enjoy refreshing outdoor activities in the never-ending daylight, including a ride on Icelandic horses, a midnight sun cruise on the Torne River, and a breathtaking visit to Mount Luossavaara.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival to Kiruna & Midnight Sun Cruise
On arrival to Kiruna you will be greeted by a local representative and transferred to your hotel in central Kiruna. After settling in, you can take some time to relax or explore your surroundings a bit.
Late in the evening, you will embark on a midnight sun cruise on the Torne River. With the unstoppable sunlight of the midnight sun, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful nature of Swedish Lapland. Along the way, the boat makes a brief stop at a small island where the guide will serve sandwiches and coffee or tea by an open fire in a wooden hut. What a wonderful way to celebrate your first evening!
Day 2: Meet the Huskies
After enjoying a hearty Swedish breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to a husky kennel where you will meet some hard-working huskies and learn more about these amazing animals and how they are trained. You will also get a firsthand experience of what it´s like to be a "musher" with an exciting dog sledding tour on wheels. During the tour we will also make a break to enjoy some coffee and sandwiches and if you are lucky there might even be some adorable puppies back at the kennel.
Day 3: Icelandic Horses & Mountain Views
Your first adventure of the day is guided horseback ride on sure-footed Icelandic horses, a great opportunity to enjoy the amazing nature of Lapland at an easy pace. The tour is suitable for both advanced riders and beginners alike.
Later in the evening, you will be picked up from your hotel for a drive to our camp where you will enjoy a 3 course dinner in beautiful settings. After the dinner we will make our way up Mount Luossavaara, where you can take in the stunning views of Mount Kebnekaise, the Torne River, and the village of Jukkasjärvi under the midnight sun.
Day 4: Departure
When it’s time to head home, transportation to Kiruna Airport is provided in time for your departure flight.
