  • Day 1: Welcome to Bergen - Capital of the Fjords

Your holiday begins at Bergen Airport, where you are welcomed by a local representative and transferred to your hotel in the city centre of the “Capital of the Fjords.” If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Bergen Card, which provides free travel on public transport, free admission to museums and discounts on further attractions, sightseeing tours, restaurants and shops.

Spend the night in central Bergen.

  • Day 2: Bergen Sightseeing & Coastal Voyage

Despite its status as Norway’s second largest city, Bergen still has the atmosphere and charm of a small town. Here you’ll find Bryggen, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, along with exceptionally preserved old houses, a lively fish market, cable cars offering stunning views, great museums and much more. In the evening you’ll embark on the Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage, offering incredible views along the fjord-studded coastline as you head north.

Spend the next four nights on board the ship in a comfortable outside cabin with private facilities.

  • Day 3: Maløy - Torvik - Ålesund - Molde - Kristiansund

Among the highlights of today’s journey are the Art Nouveau town of Ålesund and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Geirangerfjord. The ship also passes snow-capped mountains and magnificent waterfalls, such as the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil, as it navigates from one fjord to another. Optional shore excursions are available today.

  • Day 4: Trondheim - Rorvik

Early in the morning the ship docks at the historic city of Trondheim, where you have about 3.5 hours to explore the city on your own or take an optional sightseeing tour. Trondheim is the original capital of Norway, and until the 16th century, it was known as Nidaros. Here you will find the Nidaros Cathedral, one of Scandinavia’s largest buildings from the Middle Ages, along with picturesque little wooden houses. From Trondheim, the ship sails onwards to Rorvik.

  • Day 5: Ornes - Bodø - Stamsund - Svolvær

Today you’ll cross the Arctic Circle as the ship heads to the beautiful Lofoten Islands. This leg of the voyage offers spectacular sights, including small islands and skerries with peculiar rock formations, whose origins are the stuff of legend. In the evening, the ship reaches Svolvaer, the main community of the Lofoten Islands.

Spend another night on board the ship.

  • Day 6: Harstad - Finnsnes - Tromsø

This morning's route takes you past the medieval Trondenes Church before calling at Harstad. Then, the ship sails across the Vagsfjord and to the magnificent archipelagos in the north. Later on there is a stop in lively Tromsø, the largest town in northern Norway, with 52,000 inhabitants. Tromsø, often called “Paris of the North,” was a port of call for Russian, British, Dutch, and German ships in the 19th century, before they embarked on Arctic expeditions and hunting trips. In the afternoon you will embark the ship and your coastal voyage has come to an end. After checking in to your hotel in central Tromsø, enjoy dinner at one of the fine local restaurants. In the evening you can add on a northern light tour where you head out into the wild on a guided tour to see some of the brightest aurora displays in the world.*

Spend the night at a hotel in Tromsø.

*The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

  • Day 7: Journey to the Norwegian town of Narvik

In the morning, board the bus for the 4-hour journey to Narvik. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy the rugged, mountainous scenery that makes Norway a favourite among travellers.

    Spend the night in Narvik.

  • Day 8: Train to Kiruna and Northern Lights Safari

Start the day with a train ride from Narvik to Kiruna, where you are greeted by a local guide and transferred to your hotel in Kiruna, Sweden’s northernmost city. As dusk settles, the guide will lead you on an exciting snowmobile safari into the wild for a chance to see the magical Northen Lights*. Two people share one snowmobile and take turns in driving. Enjoy an authentic Lappish dinner prepared by the guide before returning to the hotel.

    Spend the night in Kiruna.

    * Please note that the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are a natural phenomenon and therefore sightings cannot be guaranteed.

  • Day 9: ICEHOTEL Tour & Sami Reindeer Farm Visit

Today, you will enjoy a guided tour of the fascinating ICEHOTEL complex, including the original snow-and-ice structure that is rebuilt each winter and a new permanent structure, the ICEHOTEL 365, which offers a year-round winter experience inside thanks to solar energy. You’ll be able to see an assortment of ice rooms and ice suites as well as the chic ICEBAR, ice church and other creative works of ice and snow.

In the afternoon you will be picked up and taken on a tour to a Sami reindeer farm for a close encounter with Rudolf and his friends, followed by a traditional snack in a Sami teepee. Try driving a reindeer sled! You will get the opportunity to learn about the daily lives and history of the Sami people, the native people of northern Scandinavia. Spend another night in Kiruna

    Optional: Overnight at the ICEHOTEL
An overnight at the ICEHOTEL is like living in a fairytale! Snuggle up with your sweetheart on top of soft reindeer skins on a bed made of snow and ice. Regardless of whether you spend the night in the new or original structure, the temperature inside is kept at around - 5°C (21°F) at all times. But no worries! You will receive a thermal sleeping bag to keep you warm and handy tips from ICEHOTEL staff on how to sleep comfortably in your own ice room or suite, on soft reindeer skins atop a bed made of ice. In the morning, wake up to a cup of hot lingonberry juice at your bedside and enjoy a hearty breakfast in the restaurant followed by a refreshing trip to the sauna.

  • Day 10: Husky Sled Ride

Today, a skilled musher will pick you up at the hotel for a thrilling Husky sled experience. You will learn to drive your own dog team of four dogs through the breathtaking Lapland landscape. Two people share one sled and take turns in driving. The dogs howl and pull at their harnesses to get moving; as soon as the anchor is lifted, the dogs fall silent and eagerly start pulling the sled through the woods and over the plains. During the break, around the fire, you will be served coffee and a light lunch.

  • Day 11: Departure

Today you are transferred back to Kiruna airport for your departure flight.

We don’t like to brag, so we’ll let our happy customers do it for us.

We loved every minute

Nordic Visitor did such a great job planning our trip! It was nice to have an already-existing tour to start from, but it was also very easy to tailor the trip to our specific interests. We loved every minute of our time in Norway and Sweden and would absolutely use Nordic Visitor again.

We had an absolute blast

The accommodation we stayed in was fantastic! We felt like we were staying in 5 star places!! We were booked in places that were in easy walking distance of places we dropped off at, which was great as we were on a self-guided tour. We found everything so easy to navigate with all the documents and vouchers. All the included food was plentiful and delicious! I have raved about this tour to all my friends and family since I have gotten back. I have especially raved about how incredible our agent, Sofia, was! She was so efficient and catered to our every need! We had an absolute blast and anyone who travels to Scandinavia should definitely book and travel with Nordic Visitor!!

Incredible Customer Service

Sophia booked a 12 day tour of Scandinavia for me. We were going in May and the escorted tours do not begin until June. She was in constant communication with me and sent all the documents via email that were needed. EVERYTHING she booked was top notch. The hotels were great and in perfect locations next to public transportation, the train ride to Flam was spectacular, the cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm was wonderful, and the pickup at the airport was right on time, I could not have planned a more perfect itinerary. THANKS to Sophia and Nordic Visitor for a wonderful vacation experience.

Everything planned was wonderful

Hi Irja,
We just returned from our trip and we wanted to tell you thank you! The trip was fantastic. Everything you planned was wonderful. We loved the tours in Kiruna, especially the dog sledding. The ice hotel was amazing and we loved the room you picked for us. The hotels you picked were very nice and we never would have found them on our own. We liked the Hurtigruten and were so happy when we got to see the Northern lights on the deck on the second night. We even enjoyed the bus and train rides because the scenery was so beautiful! The guides in Kiruna were especially nice and helped us locate a piece of luggage we lost while we were on a tour so we could make our train on time afterward. Thanks so much!

Sleep soundly, in the accommodation type of your choice, and wake up ready to enjoy another day of exploration.
